Helpful Hints #1 - TIMELINES

invitation invitations timeline when to book?

invitation

I get a lot of questions about timelines on when to send out save the dates, invitations, when we should start working on them, when do you want to reach out to me, so I thought what's better than to put it all down in my very first blog post!

I do plan on posting every couple of days or at most once a week with helpful tips and what's going on with us and what's new in the invitations trends....

Please keep in mind that these are rough guidelines and if you have many out of country guests, it's a destination wedding or other circumstances you may want to lengthen the timelines a bit.

SAVE THE DATES

Order: 10-13 months prior to the wedding

Timeline to complete: 2-4 weeks (may be more if you are involving foil or letterpress)

Post: 9-12 months before the big day

WEDDING INVITATIONS (local venue and guests)

Order: 6-10 months prior to the wedding

Timeline to complete: 6-8 weeks generally (if needed in less than 5 weeks we consider that a rush order and may or may not be able to help out - contact us immediately if you need them sooner than that.)

Post: 3-4 months before the big day

RSVP date: 5-6 weeks before the wedding

WEDDING INVITATIONS (lots of overseas guest)

Order: 8-12 months prior to the wedding

Timeline to complete: 6-8 weeks generally (if needed in less than 5 weeks we consider that a rush order and may or may not be able to help out - contact us immediately if you need them sooner than that.)

Post: make sure you post the over seas ones at least 6 months prior to the wedding.  Local guests can be mailed out 3-4 months prior

RSVP date: 5-6 weeks before the wedding.  Consider speaking to us about 2 separate RSVP dates for overseas and local guests, that way if you have numbers to meet at your venue you can send and receive the overseas rsvp's before the local ones and have room to play with for you local guests.

WEDDING INVITATIONS (destination)

Order: 12-18 months prior to the wedding

Timeline to complete: 4-6 weeks generally

Post: 8-12 months before the big day

RSVP date: Most tropical destinations require that you have your guest list firmed up 8 months - 1 year before the wedding. Therefore, you should be sending out your invitations 12-14 months before the big day.  Discuss with your travel agent or hotel/booking company for accurate dates.

SHOWER INVITATIONS

Order: 3-4 months prior to the shower

Timeline to complete: 3-5 weeks generally

Post: 2-4 months prior to the shower

RSVP date: 4 weeks prior to the shower

DAY OF STATIONERY

Order: Make sure you let us know that you are going to do day of stationery at least 8 weeks prior to the event - get on our calendar so you aren't disappointed.  You do not need all your details at the time but you do need to let us know they are coming

Timeline to complete - 2-3 weeks (final seating charts etc need to be in no later than 2 weeks before the wedding)

I hope this helps you out with dates and timelines, there is no such thing as too early.  Get on the calendar, book your spot, even if you're not sure or it's a long way out, guarantee that the vendor you want (us we hope) has you booked in and isn't going to tell you they are too busy, or there isn't enough time to complete your dream invitations!!!
